The 340 gram hoodie is good for slightly cool non windy dry days. If you are active it would be good down into the low 20's. The cold wind cuts through this jacket just like any other fleece or wool jacket. Any time it's truly bitter cold there is no substitute for a puffy jacket, this jacket with the rain outer installed might work for that but you risk putting small holes in that. I'll use the rain attachment for fishing trips on the boat and in the high country. The jacket has enough pockets, if you try to carry a small handgun in it, it might be obvious and hang heavy. Much better suited for IWB / OWB carry. I have a 41" chest and the medium fits much better than the large. Baerskin was very fast and helpful when I needed to swap sizes. Quality seems good but I will need to use it for a year to be sure. If it holds up I would have no issues getting another one or buying them for other people.
